"When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us."  ~ Helen Keller

My Approach

I bring compassion, thoughtfulness, and good humor into work with clients. My philosophy is to provide skilled, strength-based interactions and build systems of care to meet the special needs of clients in an understanding, curious, engaging, open-minded, and confidential manner. My goal is to enhance recovery and healing using the most thorough and effective methods possible.

My clinical style is to draw from diverse and effective evidence-based models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Art Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in order to provide an appropriate intervention for every client.

Creating a Therapeutic Environment

Psychotherapy should provide you with a safe, comfortable environment to discuss the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are most distressing to you, as well as to talk about your dreams, successes, and desires. For each individual, unique aspects are needed to create such an environment; I am attentive and considerate of what you need. I value your input and feedback regarding what is working and what isn’t working in our collaboration. Creating a safe “space” and having open communication is imperative to helping you achieve your goals in therapy.

The goal of psychotherapy is for you to be able to live a life that is more whole and rewarding. I am firm in my belief that enduring change is possible and that it takes time, energy, and commitment. My psychotherapy practice is devoted to helping clients create the time and space to explore themselves in order to heal old wounds and create the lasting transformation they want in their relationships and their lives.
